The Eastern Sierra is a special place to me. I have spent a lot of time there over the years. Before photography, I was an avid snowboarder and have fond memories of Mammoth and June Mountains. The countless late-night drives up from San Diego through the 395 are priceless. The deep conversations and stories with close friends I will forever hold close to my heart.
These days, I visit the area with a camera instead of a snowboard but the joy is still the same. The drive is still beautiful. The mountains still grand, the forests still magical and my favorite bakery continues to bake amazing goods. I still do visit familiar areas from the snowboarding days but over the years have branched out to new areas. There is so much beauty still left to experience.
This year, Eric came along for a fall color trip to the area. We roamed various areas and returned to a few favorites to dig deeper. It was a short trip but we left creatively fulfilled. At the end of the day it was fun just being outside with good friends. I look forward to returning again soon. My goal is to one day put together a collection of work from the area.
Below are sketches from our trip to the Eastern Sierra. A few of these may make my annual portfolio release early next year. Thanks for looking!
Until next time. - M
