Spring Getaway

This Spring I wanted to spend some quiet time with the family in a place very special to Kat and me, the Central Coast of California. It’s where we got engaged and visited several times over the years. We have so many fond memories of the area and wanted to form new memories now as a family of three. Along the way up, we made a pitstop in Oxnard and have an impromptu lunch with Kat’s sister Nichole which was nice.

Our time there included the fantastic Monterey Aquarium, relaxing on the beach and exploring many of the local shops. From a creative perspective, I was able to spend an hour or so each morning exploring the coast making images. I’ve done a quick culling of those digital images but will revisit them later to see how I feel about them. My favorites will be included in a long term project i’m working on of the area (more on that in the future). I did expose some film during this trip as well via my point-and-shoot camera as well as on a new tool I picked up called the Sprocket Rocket by Lomography. I recently got the roll of film back from the lab. It was fun to experiment with and was quick and easy. My favorite part was how nonintrusive it was to our family trip.

It was a perfect trip filled with lovely memories and quiet creative time. Below are some scans from the Sprocket Rocket. - M
